    Call for Papers – Special Issue: Optical Smart Agriculture Innovative Technologies and Applications & CCF Digital Agriculture Branch Annual Conference Special Issue
  • Digital agriculture is a new agricultural model that applies digital technologies to the entire processes of agricultural production, operation, management, and services, and is of great significance to agricultural development. To promote the development of digital agriculture technology and industry in China, and to facilitate exchanges between academia and industry, as well as among experts and researchers in the field of digital agriculture, the 2025 Annual Conference of the China Computer Federation (CCF) Digital Agriculture Branch is scheduled to be held in Changchun, Jilin Province in September 2025. To report the latest research achievements related to this conference, this journal, with the theme of optics-integrated artificial intelligence empowering high-quality agricultural development, has planned a special issue titled "Optical Smart Agriculture Innovative Technologies and Applications & CCF Digital Agriculture Branch Annual Conference Special Issue". We have specially invited Professor Helong Yu, Secretary-General of the CCF Digital Agriculture Branch and a professor at Jilin Agricultural University, to serve as the guest editor. We welcome contributions from experts, scholars, and researchers in related fields.

    I. Scope of Submissions
    Submissions may include forward-looking reviews, discipline status, frontiers and prospects, systematic research achievements, and original research works. Review papers are particularly encouraged.
    The scope of submissions includes but is not limited to:
    ? Optical Smart Agriculture Data Perception: Agricultural optical sensors, agricultural optical remote sensing, optical phenomics, optical detection, agricultural remote sensing, and intelligent perception of seed, soil, meteorological, and plant protection information.
    ? Optical Smart Agriculture Information Processing: Agricultural big data, agricultural large models, AI-driven agricultural optical models, precise carbon footprint accounting, resource utilization efficiency optimization, and development of agricultural-specific AI chips.
    ? Optical Smart Agriculture Comprehensive Applications: Agricultural robots, optical agricultural regulation equipment, agricultural digital twins, smart farm systems, agricultural product quality traceability, agricultural digital economy, and digitalization of ecological agriculture.
    II. Submission Requirements
    1. The special issues and special sections published in this journal are regular issues. Submissions must meet the following basic requirements:
    Submissions must be unpublished papers, written in either Chinese or English, within the scope of this special issue. They should present clear viewpoints, substantial supporting data, accurate results, sound reasoning, and standardized formatting.
    2. Formatting requirements:
    (1) Must include basic elements such as titles, author information, abstracts, and keywords;
    (2) Figures and tables must be editable; structured abstracts; main text no less than 7,000 words;

    III. Submission Notes
    1. Submissions for the special issue will be given priority in the review process over other manuscripts. The editorial office will expedite the review process for all manuscripts submitted to the "CCF Digital Agriculture Branch Annual Conference Special Issue" section.
    2. All manuscripts must undergo preliminary review, external expert review, and final review by the Editor-in-Chief to complete the normal publication process.
    IV. Guest Editor
     
    Professor Helong Yu
    Helong Yu is a Second-Level Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at Jilin Agricultural University, a postdoctoral fellow of Tsinghua University, a visiting scholar at Massey University in New Zealand, and a member of the Jilin Provincial Committee of the China Democratic League. He currently serves as Dean of the College of Information Technology at Jilin Agricultural University and Executive Deputy Dean of the Institute of Smart Agriculture. His research interests include computational agriculture and optical agriculture. He is the academic leader of the Agricultural Engineering doctoral program at Jilin Agricultural University and the academic leader of the Computer Science and Technology master's program. He also serves as Secretary-General of the CCF Digital Agriculture Branch and Chairman of the Jilin Provincial Smart Agriculture Society. He was selected for the 2024 "World's Top 2% Scientists List" and the "Top 1% CNKI Highly Cited Scholars" list. He is the person in charge of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs Agricultural Informatization Demonstration Base and the person in charge of the Ministry of Education Virtual Teaching and Research Office for New Agricultural Talent Cultivation Reform. He has led projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Key Research and Development Program, major consulting research projects of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and key provincial and ministerial-level research projects. As the first completer, he received the First Prize of the Jilin Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, and as the first lecturer, he received the Second Prize of the National College Teacher Teaching Innovation Competition.
    V. About Smart Agriculture (Chinese & English)
    Smart Agriculture (Chinese & English) is a bilingual agricultural journal supervised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and sponsored by the Agricultural Information Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, with Academician Chunjiang Zhao of the Chinese Academy of Engineering serving as the Editor-in-Chief. The journal focuses on agricultural information technology, publishing and disseminating the latest domestic and international research findings to build a high-level academic exchange platform. The journal has been recognized as a "Chinese Science Citation Database (CSCD) Core Journal", a "China Science and Technology Core Journal", a "Chinese Core Agricultural Journal (A)", and has been ranked at T2 level in the CAST High-Quality Science and Technology Journal Classification Directory. It is indexed in more than a dozen international databases including Scopus, DOAJ, EBSCO, and CABI.
