    Special topic solicitation: Smart Livestock—Technological Innovation and Sustainable Development
  • With the rapid advancement of technology, smart livestock has become an important research direction in the agricultural field. Smart livestock utilizes advanced sensing technology, big data analysis, artificial intelligence, and other technological means to achieve intelligent management and optimization throughout the entire process of livestock production. In order to explore the latest research results and technological applications in the field of smart livestock, and to promote the modernization and sustainable development of animal husbandry, we are pleased to invite Professor Shen Weizheng from Northeast Agricultural University and Professor Song Huaibo from Northwest A&F University to serve as joint guest editors for the special issue "Smart Livestock: Technological Innovation and Sustainable Development" in the fourth issue of 2024. We welcome experts, scholars, and researchers in related fields to submit their contributions.

    Scope of Submissions

    Including but not limited to:

    - Intelligent breeding technology and equipment
    - Big data analysis and decision support systems for animal husbandry
    - Intelligent management and monitoring of animal husbandry
    - Environmental control and optimization in animal husbandry
    - Health monitoring and disease prevention and control in animal husbandry
    - Resource utilization and circular economy in animal husbandry
    - Strategies and policy research for the sustainable development of animal husbandry

    Submission Requirements

    1. Original research papers that have not been published, in either Chinese or English, within the scope of this special issue. The papers should have clear viewpoints, detailed materials, accurate data, reasonable arguments, and adhere to formatting guidelines.

    2. Concise writing, substantial content, including titles, author information, abstracts, keywords, funding information, main text, references, and editable figures and tables. The paper should be no less than 7000 words and submitted in a Word document.

    Guest Editors

    Shen Weizheng, Professor

    Shen Weizheng, Ph.D., professor, doctoral supervisor. Chief scientist of the National Dairy Industry Technology System for Intelligent Breeding, "Shennong Young Talent" of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Executive Director of the Information Technology Committee of the Chinese Association of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, member of the Smart Agriculture Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Automation, and Deputy Director of the Special Committee of the Heilongjiang Computer Society. He is mainly engaged in research in the fields of smart livestock and agricultural artificial intelligence, and has undertaken 17 projects such as the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation, the Central Guiding Local Science and Technology Development Special, and major scientific and technological projects in Heilongjiang Province. He has received 1 second prize for scientific and technological progress in Heilongjiang Province, 2 third prizes for natural science, and 1 first prize for livestock science and technology achievements. He has been granted 16 invention patents, 35 utility model and software copyrights, formulated 4 standards, published 77 academic papers, including 52 SCI/EI papers, and published 2 monographs.


    Song Huaibo, Professor
    Song Huaibo, Ph.D., professor, doctoral supervisor, Executive Director of the Information Technology Committee of the Chinese Association of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, member of the Livestock Engineering Committee of the Chinese Society of Agricultural Engineering, Executive Director of the Seventh Council of the Shaanxi Agricultural Machinery Society, and Senior Expert of the "Science and Technology Service Team" of Agricultural Engineering in China. He is mainly engaged in theoretical research on intelligent identification technology for the health behavior of large livestock and poultry, as well as agricultural information acquisition and identification. He has successively presided over the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Project, general project, sub-projects of national key research and development projects, key research and development projects of Shaanxi Province, Shaanxi Natural Science Foundation, and sub-projects of the national 863 project. He has published over 130 papers in journals such as Biosystems Engineering, Computers and Electronics in Agriculture, with more than 60 papers included in SCI/EI journals.
